Fix your credit to buy a car at a rate you can live with.

Auto lenders approve almost anyone — the question is the rate. Borrowers above 660 get prime rates; borrowers in the 500s can pay more than double to finance the same vehicle. Before you walk into a dealership, we review your reports, dispute what's inaccurate, and give you a short plan to move into a better tier.

Questions, answered honestly.

What credit score do you need to buy a car?

You can usually get financed at almost any score, but rates change sharply by tier. Scores above 660 generally qualify for prime rates; 600–660 is near-prime; under 600 is subprime and rates can be two to four times higher.

How much does a better credit score save on a car loan?

On a $30,000 loan over 72 months, the difference between a subprime and a prime rate is commonly $5,000 to $10,000 in total interest. Moving one tier can change the payment by $75–$150 a month.

Can a repossession be removed from my credit report?

A repossession can be disputed if it is inaccurate, reported with wrong dates or balances, duplicated, or cannot be verified by the furnisher. Accurate, verifiable repossessions stay for seven years from the first missed payment.

How soon before buying should I start?

Give yourself at least 60–90 days. That allows one or two full dispute rounds and lets paid-down balances report before the dealer pulls your credit.
